As a Landlord, can I (and is there any benefit to) claim mileage for the journeys I do from my home in the West Country to the property I let in Surrey??

You can, usually at 40p per mile.

Benefits - you can offset it against tax and so reduce your tax bill.

The journey can be for no other purpose though.

45p per mile since April 2011 Smile

Thanks. I have to make three trips up to my flat and back to sort out the almighty mess the Tenant has left behind, and then one more to check in the new Tenants, at 90 miles each way I think it will be worth it!
