ATOS declared DH fit for work

He has serious MH problems, he's been seeing a psychiarist weekly for years, despite a letter from his GP and a letter from his Psychiatrist saying he's not ready he didnt score a single point

they stopped his money, have letters coming from school, council demanding we pay for school dinners, rent, tax ect but his moneys stopped.

Waiting for benefits advice service to call back.

He is appealing the discision. .. has anyone ever been sucessful?

he's been in a state and the people at atos and the job centre have been talking to him like he's thick and with no manners at all.

He's been really bad as a result of all this and has had several emergency meetings with his doctor and he's been hurting himself.

Is there anychance they will change their minds? or will he have to go on job seekers?

the whole situation sucks big time. DSis was declared fit for work. She has psychosis, a 24 hour carer in a care home, on a cocktail of about 10 meds a day, hospitalised about once a month, prognosis isn't good. Thankfully it was overturned on appeal

If you appeal it is often successful. The figures bear this out.

If your social services dept at the council have got welfare advisors, at all, and you can manage to get one out to visit you, they will act as an advocate, organise the necessary evidence and come with you to any tribunal.

They are brilliant. Keep ringing round though, till you get through to someone - it's quite hard to find one sometimes.

Appeal, appeal, appeal. My friend has Fibromyalgia and a host of other illnesses and was declared for fit for work twice. Both times she has appealed and was successful, but it's a very stressful process.

has anyone ever been sucessful? About 40% of people who appeal are successful. Your experience of ATOS is entirely typical. My friend has a degree, and was a bank manager until this illness ruined her life, (so clearly not thick) and yet has been spoken to as though she is a complete idiot on many, many occasions. She is a very honest person and was absolutely appalled that the person who assessed her actually lied on the assessment form.
