shrub - thats what we tried to do but the price we wanted to buy at wasn't enough for the sellers so they said no. It was really bad, we had dubbed it the ugly house (and it was inside and out!!)
AllieBongo - we haven't sold yet but do you feel under any kind of pressure to find now that you have sold?

Frizbe · 26/04/2006 21:04

I'm trying to sell one, along with the friend I brought it with years ago, but no one wants it in the condition its in.....

seriouslystressedspacecadet · 26/04/2006 21:13

the people who bought my house had sold before xmas and were getting desperate as they had found nowhere, when they heard my house was coming on the market they phoned every estate agent in the area to find out who was getting it, so there obviously isnt a lot about.
the house i fell in love with needed lots of work which i couldnt afford and the vendor wouldnt accept a lower offer, im buying another house, exchanged today, but that needs loads doing to it.

Alp - maybe agree to the price they want, then have medium or full survey which hopefully will pick up lots of faults, make a copy with faults highlighted and take to seller and show them, say how much you still want to buy it but it will cost xyz to make good and hopefully they will bring price down. Also worth explaining how if they keep or put on market the same faults will keep coming up each for each buyer so you will be doing them a favour!

yes, yes and yes alp. We lost the lovely house. Another has come onto the market on the sanme road. it is better decor wise, but slightly smaller. We will gain a bedroom, but they are all slightly smaller than we have at the mo. We also lose study but garage has been part converted and it has a big drive..we had a look round, the people have been trying to sell thru a renowned crap agent, but have put it on with ours. They have lost a house, but just found another (a new build so they need to complete within 28 days)we have sold to an investor who is keen to get cracking. we would gain being detached, a small bedroom and not living in an ex-council house, on a semi-scruffy road.. would you compromise space a little for the short term to have your kids grow up on a nicer road? now breathe allie!

Sorry - watching The Apprentice! The ugly house sold a few days ago for more money than we wanted to pay...so we are disappointed but not heartbroken (maybe a little?!)
I think we would compromise a little to be in a decent road but our house is a 2 bed terrace so we couldn't go backwards too much (space wise)!
i like the idea of offering then getting the survey done to go back with

Other than that its back to rightmove bashing/searching in the morning!

But if anyone wants fab 2 bed terrace, pretty cottage then come on round! Wink

Oh I could have started this thread too! We are on our 3rd buyer having lost the first 2 because we couldn't find anything. Now we have settled on a house (which needs a lot doing to it) but he won't accept an offer until he finds something, meanwhile back at the ranch I'm worried (make that paranoid) about losing another buyer Sad. Mega stressed!!

My offer still stands. Lovely 4 bed modern det'd, no need for house-doctor. Go on you know you want to Grin.

AllieBongo · 29/04/2006 17:55

AB it's in a suburb of Glasgow so probably not where you're looking. Good transport links though if you were looking in the central Scotland area. We're moving because of childcare & work commitments & unfortunately probably can't afford the same where we're going to although it's only 20 miles away.

AllieBongo · 01/05/2006 08:08

mmmm, I live in Suffolk. Bit of trek me thinks. Lovely people in Glasgow, can't understand the accent when you're drunk though!!! (one of my bf is glaswegian)
