How to get details for childs ISA?

If you have parental responsibility, can you get the paying in details/a copy of the passbook if you aren't the parent who opened the account?

Incase anyone wants the back story, DD's father only see's her for about 2-3 hours a month max, but likes to do anything possible to get at me.
I stupidly mentioned to him that I was planning to open an ISA for her, and he said he already had. I very much doubt he had at this point, as he doesn't even pay maintenance and claims he's in debt, but when i went online to try and open her one it said you are can only open an ISA if you aren't aware of another one existing.

I then asked him for the details so i could pay in, but he refused to give me them, and said he has the passbook and it's registered to him so I can't use it...
I will open a different type if not, but I was just wondering if there's any way to get the details so I can pay into her ISA, as it should have higher/tax free interest, and she can't touch it until 18.

Unless he's prepared to tell you which organisation the Junior ISA is with then I would class you as being 'unaware' of another one existing, assume he is lying, and open your own.

ok thanks, what would happen if he has got one open though, would there be any risk of loosing the money or anything?

I had a look at the online terms and conditions for the Family Assurance Junior ISA application and also found this sentence in some accompanying literature

If, after the account has been opened, we find that any of the details you supplied as part of the application were not correct, we may regard the account as invalid, which may result in the account being closed.

So if they were to do some cross-checking and found there was one already open for your DD it sounds as though you'd get the money back rather than lose it all together. I expect that's a fairly typical set of T&Cs and I'd suggest, rather than taking a chance, giving the ISA provider a call before submitting any application.
