DH and I are pretty sure that I've paid too much tax over the last tax year - and are not sure about him.

How much tax and NI should I have paid if up to the end of March 2005 I'd earned £3008.51 taxable pay.

And for DH how much tax and NI on £12,823????

Google 'tax calculator' and that should lead you to something which will check for you.

thanks for that - it seems DH has paid the right amount - but looks like I've paid too much - what do I do? Or will it be sorted out automatically??

Ring your tax office, not sure but you might need to fill out a tax return but they should be able to advise. Have your NI number and payslips to hand when you call.

Try this link (rubbish at getting links right) Blush

National Insurance is worked out onthly or weekly (whichever way you are paid. Therefoore you pay it if you go over the lowere earnings level for that week, even if you earn nothing for the rest of the year.

It sounds like you should be due a refund on any tax you have paid. You need to contact the inland revenue and will need to send them copies of your P60 or P45 (yes I know they already have them but this is the tax office we are talking about whose right hand doesn't know what the left is doing.
