I had a message from my bank today to warn me I'd gone overdrawn. Checking through my statements I found that AXA insurance have taken 2 monthly payments for a policy that doesn't even exhist. I've never even been an AXA customer so now need to find how they got my details.Luckily the bank has recalled the money.

Anyway please learn from my mistake. Check your statements and query anything you're unsure of. i wouldn't have noticed this if I hadn't gone overdrawn.

Good advice but, personally speaking, I never wait for a statement :) Prefer to check my online account daily and, the second I see something I'm not expecting, I'm straight onto the bank. Have had credit cards defrauded before now and time is of the essence.

Years ago I had an endowment savings policy and discovered that the insurance company had been taking the premium twice EVERY month for a year!

They couldn't find out why but eventually refunded it when I gave them a copy of my bank statements with all other details blacked out with a permanent marker (wasn't going to give them any other info relating to my finances). They kept saying they couldn't see it on their records so it wasn't happening as far as they were concerned.

It was a nice windfall at the time though once I finally got hte refund.
