Where do I find someone who can help me sort my savings out?

I have just inherited a large ish sum of money from the passing of my grandparents and received another largish sum about 2 years ago. It was all tied up in stocks and shares and I sold most of them to put a deposit down on a house. Now however I have small investments in lots of different places and a large cash sum. What I am basically asking is who is the best person I need to speak to? Is it a financial advisor and if so where do I go about looking for I one? These are probably very silly questions but haven't got a clue where to start!

It rather depends on what you class as a 'large cash sum'. The standard advice is usually to pay off debts and loans first, use tax-free savings options second and then what happens to the rest is where an IFA can be useful. I would suggest you ask friends and family they can recommend one from personal experience.
