What to do about money when recovering from an operation

Hello,
About four years ago i had the first part of surgery to cure colitis and i've recently been thinking i need to have the second half done (there is a risk things could become cancerous after 8 years).
I'm a bit concerned about money while i'm recovering as i have recently become self employed. I had and 8 week recovery period last time, so it would have a significant impact on my income.

Is there any financial help i can get with this? Any suggestions would be welcomed!

Save a bit between now and then? Put it aside. Are you thinking about benefits?

Oh, sorry, just seen you are self employed.

You may be eligible for Employment Support Allowance (can't link as on my mobile) but if you go on direct.gov.uk and type it in, it'll come up with all the details :)

Yes, will try and do that too, but as i've just set up my business recently, i've had to put quite a bit of money towards start-up costs etc, so i'm not sure i'd be able to get enough together in time.

If you are on a council tax bill and/or live in rented accommodation then you should check with your local council if you qualify for housing & council tax benefits, as they are based on your income for each week, however if you live with a partner their income would be taken into account too. There are of course a few other criteria.....

I think it's worth calling HMRC - it may depend on your national insurance contributions etc. I just became self employed and wanted to check about statutory maternity pay etc, they were very helpful. It may be that you qualify for statutory sick pay?

You can get rid of Colitis with "Colloidal Silver".

I would drink water before & after taking the Silver, to flush out all the dead pathogens, or you will get flu like symptoms.- I would take a good Yoghurt or similar to bring back the good Bacteria to the gut.

you risk turning blue if you use colloidal silver see e.g. rense.com/general12/blueasdf.htm

If you wish to try alternative remedies try probiotics, fish oil and perhaps aloe vera.

Thanks for the advice handfish and alreadytaken, but it's a little late for that :) i had it for 3 years, was in hospital quite a bit and had to have 2 blood transfusions- it was totally uncontrollable, whatever i tried! The part of my bowel that has the colitis isn't attached to my digestive system any more, so it wouldn't make any difference.

Thanks for the advice everyone else, looking into it.
