Could anyone give me any advice or point me in the direction of someone who could? Thank you.
My husband and I are buying our first house together, we are both self employed, me for 7 years and him for only one year
We have enough deposit and ok wages, enough to get a house that suits us for now and we can afford the payments if we are sensible.
We spend the last couple years paying off his debt from his young, free and single days before he met me and was allowed to have fun.
It all sounds ok but the problem we have it that most mortgage companies need 2 years accounts, they won't count his wages from his (employed) job he had before even though he was on a lot more then.
What can we do?

I spelt mortgage wrong in the title, oh dear. Weeks of thinking about houses and money has turned my brain to mush.

check out london and country - i've found them useful in the past and did not feel hounded by them

I'd also recommend finding an independent mortgage advisor. Either google one down in your local area or - ideally - get a recommendation from someone. Different lenders have different lending criteria and some are more cautious than others about earnings from self-employment. There will be a few that are happy with your credit history etc. but you may find the interest rate you're offered reflects their scarcity.
