Tax credits questions!

Can anyone help me with my questions on tax credits - I am employing a nanny who qualifies for them, and I want to make sure she gets the right money as soon as possible, but I'm not sure how the system works.
I know that howevermuch she is 'awarded' as a tax credit I pay her and then I claim the money back from the inland revenue but

  1. she is earning a different amount in this job to her last job so how quickly will the IR recalculate her tax credits so I know the right amount to pay her?

  2. Is she told exactly how much the tax credit amount is - so she can tell me, or do I need to contact the IR?

Thank you.

she should be told adn the IR will rtell you as Employer how much to pay - don't pay anything until it has been confirmed- the IR should pay Tax credit direct to her while they let you know how much to pay and then give you a date to start paying if in doubt 'phone them

Thank you - I really didn't want her to be out-of-pocket on her first pay packet as she needs the money right now.
I'll give the IR a ring tomorrow.
She's moved from a full-time job to one with less hours and therefore slightly less pay, so we're hoping that they will recalculate the credits in her favour..I know you can earn £2500 more without your credits going down, but can't find how much less you need to earn for your credits to go up!
The on-line tax credit thing has been taken off the web due to 'fraud investigation'. Shock

They wuill recalculate it. I think the limits misleading as everything is recalulated at teh end of teh tax year so it is basically best to contact them as soon as possible.
have you got their number 08453003900 open 8-8
Hopefully they will sort it out ASAP

Think I'm understanding this, if she is woring for you you don't have to pay her anything her working tax credit will be paid through her bank account. payment through the employer no longer happenes it was phased out in November and no-one should get it after April so you need to do nothing, she needs to tell them her employer has changed and they will sort it out.

Fab - looks like some of the websites I've got info from are out of date.

Thanks.
