Live in France, need bank account for baby dd

We have a three month old DD and want to open a uk savings account for her so relatives can give her money for birthdays etc. (they've asked btw, we're not assuming!!)

I called my bank (nobbing natwest) who said as we live in France we can't have a new account, even though I've banked with them for 20 years.

Does anyone know how we can have a basic uk savings account for DD? We'd rather not have a French account as all payments will be from relatives in the uk in Stirling.

If you have an account with NatWest already, couldn't you simply open another savings account in your name, make it notionally your DD's for the time-being, and get people to put money into it?

do you bank online with natwest? Have you tried doing the online application for the Young Saver account?

Good ideas both! I tried the online account application but our address made computer say no on young savers. I'll try one in my name too and see what happens.

If you are happy for the account to be opened by a relative in the uk eg grandparent, send them the birth certificate and they can open an account in trust for your DD. obviously you wouldn't have access to it this way though :)
