Tax credit help

Hi everyone, i get child tax credit only as cannot work due to ill health just now. I have a son who turned 16 in jan but going into his 6th year in school in august. tax credit said on my new award it wont show amount for him due to him being 16 but i thought i would get same amount as i do now with him staying on school. can someone help please?

IIRC, they should still pay for him as he's in full time education. Call them back or go and see the CAB.

Same happened to me last year just give them a call you will get the same amount.

As long as you've told them he's staying on in full time non advanced education you will still get CTC for him after 31 August BUT as this change is in the future, even though it will have been updated on your claim, any award notice you get before that date will show entitlement for him ending on 31/08/12.
Your award will be recalculated after 1st September to include him for the rest of the year and you'll be sent a new award notice showing this.
