There is a college course i really really really want to do but it is £250 per year for 2 years 3 days per week so i will have to put ds in nursery for 3 days which in my area is £35 per day. Im a single mum 21 years old on income support. Does anyone know if i would be entitled to any help from income support? i haven't enquired as yet but will do in the next few days

You will be able to get a grant from Learn Direct to cover College course fees

I have just started a degree with the Open University. The government will be paying my course fees and have already paid for the first 9 month stretch. And I get a grant of £250 to cover costs for those 9 months. It'll be a few years yet until I'm finished though!
I have a 5year old and a two-year old. The two-year old goes to playgroup four mornings a week for three hours each time. This means I get the majority of my work done in this time.
Just another option...that's all. Good luck.

You can also sometimes get vouchers to help cover child costs at the nursery-might be worth looking to see if youre entitled. Nursery is SO expensive!!

If it is at a college and you are a single mum, you should get course fees paid for and nursery fees too.

That's really interesting, because i wanted to do a course and i'm a single mother on benefits, with the learn direct can you do it at home?? Because i don't wanna go to college all the time??

please be careful when taking out these courses on credit. I was a financial adviser and the number of people who came to me for loans because the course fees had got out of control was amazing.

Always check the small print and APR!!!
