Car insurance - anyone with Churchill, Hastings or esure? Or recommended companies?

We're now with Churchill, about to renew. I've had a look around and best quotes are Hastings and esure for equivalent cover. Is it worth moving? Very interested to know what either of these they like if you need to make a claim, and whether they actually give you a courtesy car. Also, any recommended companies to look at in terms of good service?

Thanks alot, they are never as good as they promise when it comes to the crunch (ha, sorry)

I think Churchill have an optional extra for courtesy car (actually, they probably all do!). Personally I've always stuck with direct line, I've never claimed but my dad has on his policy and they were outstanding. Smile

thanks rockchick I'll have a look at direct line then.

Bumping for anyone else?

Used to be with Hastings. Don't think I ever claimed but they were fine for me and good prices.

Have been with esure for years as they are consistently well priced. Have never claimed other than for window chip repair so can't really comment on that but we're happy with them generally. Courtesy car and legal cover are extras though I believe (we don't have them).

I have to agree about direct line I had 2 accidents whilst I was with them (not my fault). They were really good and easy to deal with. I'm not with them anymore there to expensive compared to other insures.

I was with Hastings last year, service was fine but I didn't make a claim.

Fluffycloudland77 · 20/07/2012 12:45

I'm with hastings, made a non fault claim. It was ok.

I change every year and just go with the cheapest one.

worked in car ins, all the companies want you to stay with them but you must shop around, go compare , moneysupermarket , compare the market and the rest are great to get an idea of renewal prices, if one of these companies offer a better deal get on to your company and see if they will match it , as i said they want to keep you , but dont make it easy by just renewing.

I'm with Hastings ( have just changed over to them) and guess what the cheeky B did?

DH and I, although we are in our 50s, are semi - retired, we both run internet businesses so don't have any commute to work and don't do a lot of mileage.

Anyways, gets my insurance quote, £26 per month, all well and good.

Two months later get a letter off them saying 'thank you for contacting us, we have amended your policy and the new payments will be £48.00 per month'

WTAF

When I phoned them to query it I was told I hadn't 'included my commute to work' and they had just amended the policy without checking with me!!

'What commute to work' says I and 'did you not think to contact me to confirm any details before you changed anything'

Nice try Hastings - they have apparently reversed it all back to what it was originally.

Last year I was with Swinton insurance and even though I had opted out of being contacted with new offers etc, they still contacted me on a weekly basis.
The month before my policy was due for renewal I had eighteen phone calls from them over a three day period !!!
