Petrol Prices come down more slowly than they go up!

Since its recent peak on March 13, the price of oil has fallen by 27% while the forecourt prices, which peaked a month later, have dropped just 7.9%.

The difference between the oil and forecourt prices is now the biggest since 2009!!

I read an article recommending searching for your cheapest petrol station on the following website petrolprices.com & using a cash back credit card. I have done neither but with 3 kids and a large diesel car, this is looking like my next steps.

Has anyone any other money saving tips for cutting the cost of filling up?

I do always use the car to a minimum and am lucky enough to be able to walk the kids to school etc- Unfortunately I have to commute by car to my job which is my biggest cost in diesel.

Thanks Smile

Live closer to your work.

Park a couple of miles from work and cycle the rest.
Work from home a day a week.

Car share with someone who lives en route?

Empty all the stuff out of your car that you don't need, and never have more than half a tank of diesel in your engine. Extra weight means lower MPG

BTW... petrol prices are only going to go one way for the foreseeable future. It's a non-renewable resource and all that. How about an electric car?

Of course they do.

Why would a petrol station put their prices down, if people were still buying petrol from them?

Remember that if you drive much out of your way to get to a petrol station you'll use more fuel than the money you save.
