Savings for Private schooling in years 9-11?

We have 4 years to save for ds1 to possibly go private in his final 2 years of schooling.
Is it feasible to save enough in 4 years to pay for most of the fees?
Dh and I have no experience of private ed but due to changes which are happening within this LA in the next few years we feel this could be the best option for ds1.
We have a joint income atm of £50k and after this years should be able to save each month. How much should we be looking to save?
TIA

I would get the fees from the school he will be going to x them by 2 & then divide by 4 to see how much you need to save each year. Might be better educationally for him to join bin year 9, so he can make option choices etc & get used to the school & it's expectations & methods of working.

As well as fees, don't forget to include the costs of uniform, equipment, trips and travel. These can easily add up to a few hundred a year.

You should also find out if you will need to pay for exam papers, I'm sure they do that in some private schools which could bump prices up.

Also, they tend to hike the prices up year on year, so the cost for the first school year and 2nd school year might be quite a bit different.
