Tax credits replaced with universal credit?

I am divorced, 2 dc, work 24 hours per week and rely on tax credits. Will the universal credit, which is being brought in to replace the current system leave me poorer still? TIA

Do you claim housing benefit?

The stated intention of the universal credit white paper is that people who work will be better off rather than worse off. Housing benefit rule changes have already been announced in previous budgets and, if you claim that, you should check with your housing authority whether it applies to you. Other specific details have not been announced beyond the cap on total benefits for those who do not work. A law still needs to be passed before UC happens.

There's some information here.

Tennis, no benefits. Just ctc and wtc.

There are "transitional" rules in place in the legislation to guarantee that for at least a few years no one will lose out on UC. After that who knows!
