Does anyone have one of these that they wouldn't mind sharing with me? I want to track my spending for a few weeks to see where my money's going but all the one's I've found online seem to be Americanised and more complicated than my needs.

I use MS Money Free Download here for all expenses. Set up the balance on your bank account, give expenses and deposits a category and it's pretty simple to maintain.

Thankyou, but that link took me to something called Money Plus Sunset Deluxe which wanted me to pay for it?

Try this link instead.

Just use MS Excel.

One column have outgoings, another have income, and a third has what's left.
Just type formula into Excel's built in help. I've used one for years and it's as accurate as any other, as long as you put everything in .

I just downloaded this - and promptly deleted it. The file is 100gb, which is absolutely massive. No thanks, I'll stick to the simple Excel spreadsheet I set up myself.

FlouncyMcFlouncer · 06/06/2012 13:57

I have set up an exel one now - Technoviking, I wanted something more indepth as I know how much comes in and goes out (about ten quid more goes out than comes in ever y day Blush) I want to know exactly where it goes! Grin

It's 34MB... not 100GB

Technoviking · 06/06/2012 15:44

Flouncy, that's what I use Excel for. But it's all dependent on how acurately you input the information, as any system would be.

Mine is really long, as I record every penny that I spend.

FlouncyMcFlouncer · 06/06/2012 16:06

That's my intention over the next few weeks.

if you want to do it accurately you need to carry around a wee notebook to write down all your little tiny purchases... excel won't help with that if it's on your computer when you're out and about.

shineypenny · 06/06/2012 19:50

I downloaded it and then went to My Computer, All Programmes and it said it was 100GB.

Just keep your receipts, then update when you get home.

tribpot · 07/06/2012 13:33

If you have a smartphone, there are a number of applications that will let you record transactions on the go. I appreciate you want something a bit more basic than this to get started with but it's worth being aware of.

Here is an Excel worksheet - I used this for months when i was in college, really useful. The only thing is it is in $ (which you can easily change). pearbudget.com/PearBudget.xls
