Reclaiming tax - a quick and easy question..

MrAnchovy or colleagues??

I am wading through the HMRC site trying to find the correct form for reclaiming tax (I am self employed) wrt professional membership fees, indemnities etc (healthcare) for the past few years, having omitted to claim against tax for some of them on my usual yearly returns.

Any ideas??

Thanks x

I think you need [http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/sa/correct-repay.htm Correcting your Tax Return]] if you are amending previously submitted self-assessments.

Yes that is the right link. To summarise: for 2011/12 or 2010/11 you can just resubmit your return and the repayment will be recalculated automatically (subject to the usual checks), for 2009/10 or 2008/9 you have to write and explain the situation which takes a little longer for HMRC to process. Earlier than that you have no chance I am afraid.

Note that you cannot claim private health care for yourself or a family member as a business expense if you are self employed.
