Rang them to inform them that Xp had left and they are stopping all payments and sending me out a new claim form which I should get either the end of this week or the beginning of next (wtf it's only tuesday now).
Then once i send it back it could be anything from 2-5 weeks before my claim is sorted.

So they are gonna leave me and 3 kids with not a penny.

Luckily they paid me today for this week (can they take that back out of my bank ?) So i have £100 bt thats got to last indefinatly and i have to buy food and pay for gas and electric.

What the hell am i supposed to do.

if you go to your local tax enquiry office (check inland revenue website, it will say where this is), get a form to fill in there, and ask to see someone and kickoff about not having enough food for the kids, and hopefully they can authorise an emergency payment.

Kidstrack2 · 21/02/2006 10:36

nutcracker they can't take it from your bank, that payment is for you for this week and its part of your old claim, so they can't take it back, there system is a shambles, i thought the whole point was that we were able to phone up with a change of circumstances and it would be done there and then on the computer while chatting to you, there system stinks at the moment and they need to sort it out, they can't keep letting families down!

nutcracker · 21/02/2006 10:37

The bloke on the phone was so not bothered I was dumbstruck.

Will look for the nearest office now MTS.

I cannot believe they are allowed to do this. I don't give a toss about having money for me but what are my kids meant to do.

Nutty are you still working?

mummytosteven · 21/02/2006 10:39

are you already claiming Income Support? If not, put in a claim for that. If you are I think you could apply for some sort of Crisis payment (not sure if it was a loan)

nutcracker · 21/02/2006 10:40

Have applied for IS but they said it will be at least 3 weeks maybe longer.

Am not working anymore no.

This so PISSES ME OFF! Especially b/c it makes NO sense. A lone parent is obviously going to qualify for more CTC. So why not continue their existing payments, b/c it's not like it's going to result in any overpayment, until the new claim is processed?

But noooooo! Let's leave the parent in the lurch so they can get into debt, rack up rent arrears, get CCJs and wind up homeless? Yeah! That's a great way to save money!

F*cking Gordon Brown. Makes me want to spit w/his 'new' system.

nutcracker · 21/02/2006 10:42

Exactly Expat. It is the only circumstance that has changed so they won't be paying me any less money, so why not leave it as it is for now and then sort it once they have my new form.

I think it's another good reason for him to move out, as if he is still there how do you demonstrate you are not living as a couple?

nutcracker · 21/02/2006 10:43

Well he might be still here but he isn't working so isn't contributing at all, so i'm not going to let that lie worry me.

Anyway he has decided to ask his dad for a deposit on a flat so hopefully he will be gone soon.

nutcracker · 21/02/2006 10:45

Actually while i'm on, does anyone know if yo are entitled to housing benefit if you are stat sick pay ???

I think the answer is yes but am not 100% sure.

Gordon Browns Wifey? are u around I wanna a word with your hubbie! i bet she 's on here

munz · 21/02/2006 10:47

nutty I rang them on friday at 4 pm and my forms came thru this morning so hopefully u'll will be quick as well, it's so annoying they keep stopping payments like this - it makes me think twice about claimin to start with.

Kidstrack2 · 21/02/2006 10:47

i think so nutcracker, beacuse its all based on the income coming into your home!

Mascaraohara · 21/02/2006 10:49

I think you are only entitled to CTC if you are working as it's a tax credit. If you are not now working I think that's why they will have stopped it. Shouldn't you now claim income support instead? I would get on to them.

Sorry don't know about housing benefit.

nutcracker · 21/02/2006 10:50

I am not working mascaraohara. Have claimed for IS for me, but you claim for CTC for the kids.

Xp is off work sick and on SSP, am hoping he is entitl;ed to housing benefit now then cos then he can go find somewhere and not worry about the rent.

Loobie · 21/02/2006 17:53

Nutty YES he can claim rent rebate/housing benefit when claiming SSP,have double checked on the benefits website and definately yes!!
Incidently why is he claiming SSP if he is not working? Shouldnt it be incapacity benefit? or is he supposed to be working but on the sick from his job, sorry missus not being nosey just something that it said in the DSS website is all

spacecadet · 21/02/2006 18:25

b***s arent they? fwiw, I may have got somehwere, fingers crossed have posted on mrmiaous thread.
its ridiculous though isnt it,why is it neccasssary to stop the claim?? you are going to be entitled to more money not less.

nutcracker · 21/02/2006 18:44

He shold be working but is signed off sick at the mo and until further notice. He cannot claim IB ntil he has had SSP for 26 weeks I think it is.

Spacey , i know it isn't hard to work out that you will be entitled to more money is it, they obviously don't have a working brain between them.

OP posts:
spacecadet · 21/02/2006 18:47

its just bimin red tape, you are no longer entitled to that particular award, so they just stop it.

cheltenhamgal · 21/02/2006 19:11

nutcracker, I had a problem with the TC people a couple of years ago, they stopped my payment cos of a computer error ! well, I stormed upto the local Inland Revenue office and really went to town saying how could they expect me to feed, clothe etc. I had a couple of emergency cheques from them which helped, and then when it carried on I was very brave and got my local paper involved. A week after the article was shown I received a cheque for £1000 so result
