I wonder if u can help me work out what/if anything i'm entitled to. cos the entitled to web site has just said i'm eligable for £8.75 per month - what's the point in claimin for that I ask u???

anyhow here's the jist basically, DH and I combined wages for 04/05 were approx £26000, for 05/06 it's approx £29000 (give or take) for this coming year i'm not planning on going back to work so will be having maternity pay only until sept and there after it will be approx £400 p/m by way of p/t work - LO would obviosuly be in nursery and so our income will drop to approx £19000 (If we're lucky)

so what do u recon are we eligable for anything? I don't wanna claim if we over pay but also I don't wanna claim if they're only gonna give us a stupidly small amount as it won't be worth the hassle if they come back and say they've over paid iycwim.

my friend & her DH are in the same boat as us with pay (he's working with DH and she's PT in a shop with nursery) and they get £350 p/m incl the nursery costs. so I don't understand how it can only be £8.75 for us. will they use my old earnings until september?

Sounds like you should be entitled to more - we get @£40 a month and earn a little bit more than that.

I am also trying to figure out what we are going to be getting as Iam going off on mat leave too but I cant access the website - keeps saying its closed - do you have a link?

fairydust · 17/02/2006 16:42

you won't be able to fuloy work it out yourself as you'll have to declaire you earnings for 05/06 and then tell them you no longer earn and are maternity pay and that determines the amount you get.

You could always phone and ask rather than go through the forms first

munz · 17/02/2006 16:52

so i'd have to tell them the 05/06 earnings wait for it to be processed and then say i'm on mat pay only from the start of april? and wait for them to adj it again?

tarmac - the site's down apparently due to fraud has been for some time now.

Munz - you should get more than that. In baby's first year the minimum you should get is £1090 a year, this is just child tax credit. I think everyone who earns below about £50000 is entitled to this, but you may well get more from working tax credits.
From what I have worked out for you it should be about 1700 if jointly you work at least 30 hrs and your income is 19000 and not including any childcare fees. A word of warning though this bit might be rubbish, I have just worked it out the way I check that what they are paying me is right. HTH

ok got the forms, jsut gonna fill them in and take expat's advice on photo copying everything and sending it all recorded (I think i'll keep it all in a folder as proof incase they ever come back to us) and also log every telephone call.

anyone know how long a claim takes/how long Child Benifit takes to process cos they want a CB no. also I wanted to try for the sure start grant - I highly doubt we'll be eligable but thought we could try and see what they say. and apparently u have to be claiming tax credits for it.

still a bit confused thou cos in 2004/2005 we earnt less than in 2005/2006 and in 2006/2007 it will be even less, so do I give them the figures they're asking for in 2004/2005 and then ring up in 2006/2007 year and say hold ur horses i'm only getting maternity pay now so my estimated earnings for this year will be £2000 and DH's will be £17000??
