Help with calculation?

Hi all, newbie here,

I did post this on another forum but no takers am afraid Shock and would really appreciate some help.

I was wondering if someone a little more numerate than myself would mind casting an eye over my calculations for our income this year? What with going on maternity leave etc. I'm worried that I'm going to !!!! things up dramatically if left to my own devices. We have two children already (no childcare) and earned £27K gross between us last year, no other income source.

A little background info is that my husband will be (hopefully) increasing his hours as I go on mat leave so, for the purposes of supplying HMRC with accurate info and not changing things a few months in, I have treated him as working full time for the entire year (he currently works 23 hours per week) We already have a small(ish) overpayment and don't want that again if it can be helped.

I earn £8.04 ph and work a 39 hour week on nights (paid 4 weekly) I will be taking my six weeks annual leave from May 27th and, following that, commencing Mat leave from 11th July, therefore:-

Earnings up to May 27th (9 weeks approx) £2822.00
6 weeks A/L £1881.00
6 weeks @ 90% £1693.00
31 weeks SMP £4198.00
10 KIT Days £803.00

Subtotal = £11397.00
Deduct £100.00 pw for 37 weeks = Total £7697.00

Husband 7.04ph x 39 x 52 = £14277.00

Grand total for year of £21974 + £2500 disregard = £24474.00

Does this look about right? I have enormous trouble with the entitledto calculator, everytime I put in the weeks of SMP it tells me I've entered incorrectly so am not sure of the final result. It estimates CTC of £89 per week until September when child 3 arrives and then £141 per week.

Should anyone take the time to help me, I would greatly appreciate it, certainly not the most scintillating of subjects I know!

Thanks in advance.

Is the entitledto calculator the same at the Turn2Us calculator cos I find that is accurate.

Hi,

Yes it's the same but, somehow, it keeps telling me that I've made an incorrect entry with the weeks in receipt of SMP so am a little dubious about the final result.

When I was calculating mine last year I did the sums relating to SMP myself (as you have done) and just input the figure as my salary once I had knocked off the £100x37. So for you, I'd just put salary of £7697. It worked out accurate for me (give or take a few £) but can't guarantee it! If you contact CAB they will calculate it for you.
