...if anyone could please recommend a reputable and fair private money lender / lending company - for a substantial unsecured loan?

I am in the process of making a financial claim on behalf of children for capital and maintenance payments - against my son's father.

I need 5000 pounds urgently (to retain a solicitor) and I am able to repay
500 pounds every month, and eventually the outstanding, when the maintenance is awarded.

I have tried to get a Litigation Loan from my bank but was not successful because I dont have tangible assets.

Please kindly send me a PM if you know any reliable person or organization.

I'm in London.

Thank you.

There are many reputable banks and other financial institutions offering unsecured loans. You do not have to specify what the money will be used for i.e. it doesn't matter if your £5000 is for a car, a holiday or a lawyer. If you go to a comparison site like Moneysupermarket you can see a comprehensive list of companies together with comparable APR%. Enter some details and leave an e-mail address.

BTW.... I'm assuming you've already talked to CAB and investigated if legal aid is a possibility.

Thank you, yes I have. Legal Aid does not cover this Financial Claim for Maintenance. Its beyond the ambit of CSA Assessment and we are claiming for top up maintenance and capital settlement.

Thank you.

Find out where you local credit union is. You can usually join one associated with your workplace or where you live. I use them whenever I need a loan to cover short term problems. Then pay it off quickly if I can, with no penalty.
