Benefits entitlement from single mum to married and co-habiting?

Just after a bit of advice really. I'm currently on income support and living on my own, well just me and my son. I also get my rent/council tax etc. paid for me. I am in a relationship at the moment but following the rules etc. as in he doesn't stay here and he doesn't contribute towards us or anything. I was just wondering if we were to get married and begin to cohabit from then onwards, what would we be entitled to as a couple? I've tried all these benefits calculators and stuff but I'm not getting the answers I'm looking for.
I am currently receiving IS, CTC, CB, HB and CTB
He is self-employed and currently earning less than £5000 a year.
Any ideas on what would happen as far as help with rent etc?
Thanks in advance to anyone that can help :) xx

Turn2Us Benefits Calculator

If he works 24 hours+ per week chances are you'd get exactly the same benefits plus Working Tax Credit. You'd also save as a household because you wouldn't be paying two lots of rent... presumably he pays rent somewhere else if he doesn't live with you... utility bills etc.

I did that calculator and it says that I won't get IS anymore but will get working tax credits that I don't get now instead so it balances it out. Thanks for your help :)

You will lose the single person discount on your council tax but if you are on full CTB it won't make much diff I suppose.

When the new rules come in next year he is going to have to look for a better paid job/more hours or your benefits will be reduced or stopped.

What new rules are those victorialucas?

Universal benefits will make families work longer hours or for higher wages or look for such work until they earn enough to be self-sufficient, depending on the ages of DCs.

Do you have a link to that information?
