Can anyone talk to me about this as it's been discussed with CAB and they think it's the best route to deal with my financial issues?
I'm currently setting up another basic bank account and transferring all of my living money into it, as Halifax have taken money from my rent account to pay for the credit card and left me in arrears this month. I will set up all my direct debits and benefits payments into it.
She will send me the paperwork I need to pay the £90 fee. I know that for the next 12 months that if my circumstances remain the same and I get nothing over £300 in one sum, that this should essentially cancel off most of my debts. It will leave my credit rating in a bad way for at least three years, but since I don't plan on any credit anyway, it's not a big deal. I'll have my basic account to deal with money online and I will only spend what I have anyway.
Something that has occurred to me is that I am currently awaiting a decision on DLA, but if I get that I will be changing some of my spending anyway, so should still be less than £50 a month clear after outgoings. Is it worth asking the lady to wait until I get a decision on that before we put it through so that I can adjust my numbers accordingly?
Can't wait to finally sort something out and not be sick with worry.
