Anything from £300-£1000. Also need land registry fees to register house which are roughly £150, though its a while since I checked.

Don't forget estate agents fees 1-3% and stamp duty which is another (2% I think) on £297K

If this is not your main residence could be CGT as well.

Really it puts solicitors fees into perspective really. Quite cheap compared to everything else.

£1,000 roughly

Doesn't the purchaser pay the stamp duty though?

littlemissbossy · 24/01/2006 15:55

You pay stamp duty on the house you are buying

For a sale you would probably just have the solicitors fees & Estate agents fees

On a similar £ sale we've been quoted £650 ish plus vat from a conveyancing firm plus EA fees of 1.5% (sole agent) plus vat.

Just gone back to the solicitors that I used when I bought my house and they quoted £450 plus vat and £8 office copy entries. So not too bad.
Was going to use an online for £499 - but will go back to the guy I know.
