I'm about to rewew our house insurance, buildings and contents. I normally do a search through money saving expert but it takes a bit of time to go through it all. Has anyone done this recently and found a good deal? TIA

Never found anyone who could beat Frizzel (Liverpool Victoria under another guise). I am in central London.

Thanks, I'll see what they come up with. So far AA and More Than are coming out best. Saving over £100 on the premium. Just shows what you can save if you shop around.

No recommendations other than try to get your buildings and contents with the same insurer. That way there will be no arguments over which policy covers what if you need to claim. I have a friend who had hers with different companies and they spent months arguing whether pipes came under buildings or contents.

We're just putting in a bit claim for damage cause by a leaking waste pipe from our en-suite loo. Fortunately our policies are with the same company, so I just put in the claim and leave them to decide which policy to allocate it to.

Key Connect were £200 for my B&C cover.

Gingerbear · 23/01/2006 11:36

woops, that should say £200 cheaper.

I saved myself nearly £90 a year thanks to this thread. Been meaning to shop around to see if I could get my B&C insurance cheaper - I'm with the Halifax and took it out at the same time as my mortgage 2.5 years ago.

I went online - Halifax seemed a good deal but cheaper than I pay now so I applied for the same cover I currently have and got it for £90 less than I pay now. Called the Halifax, cancelled my current policy. Happy bear!

Great stuff KBear! Must get my bum in gear and get this sorted tomorrow. Just noticed that my 0% credit card needs changing too.
