Advice re possuble benefits pleasd...

Hi everyone.
I work full time and earn £25k p.a.
My husband is in the process of divorcing me (i had him arrested for domestic violence) and our house is also about to go on the market.
We are expecting to , once thr house has sold, net about £30k from the house sale and this will pay off our debts with nothing left over at all.
So I am expecting to rent a property and my 2 children want to split their time between us with Mr getting a bit more of their time. Maybe 4 out of the 7 days. It's all a bit up in the air at the moment.
Given my earnings, is there likely to be anything I can claim? The children are teenagers.

I've seen your posts elsewhere and responded before I think - I'm also recently separated and have found the website www.entitledto.co.uk to be really useful. You put in all your earnings etc and it works out what you are entitled to (unsurprisingly!).

It appears that I am only entitled to child benefit.

£25k income, being the national average, does put you over the limit when it comes to many means-tested benefits. Your ex, however, has an obligation to support his children post divorce so that may be an other source of income. I would suggest you contact your local council regarding Housing Benefit if you're planning to rent. The rules about income and savings vary from region to region and change depending on number of children and whether you are single or in a couple.
