I though you qualified automatically if you receive Child Benefit (maybe other benefits too) - are we meant to register then?

In essence if you get child benefit you get it automatically. It ensures you still get credit towards the basic state pension for the years you are at home/brining up children etc.

You have to ensure that the Child benefit is in your name not dh's

Yes, dh just confirmed, you do automatically get it as long as child benefit is in your name.

the only thing you have to watch out for is a potential shortfall in your NICs - just had a leaflet about it. Do you want me to copy out the paragraphs about HRP?
