Hello all....Is it just me or are others really feeling the pinch at the moment? All of my friends seem to be getting promoted, those that own their own businesses are flying, going on this holiday, that holiday, getting a new car etc etc. Whereas we seem to be struggling! We havent had a foreign holiday since 2001 and didnt go anywhere at all last year (6 weeks school hols at home with children on my own....pretty intense). I dont think of myself as a bitter person but I am starting to feel incredibly bitter!

Every ones circumstances are different though arent they.
There is no blanket cover over every individual when credit crunch is mentioned ont he news.

It defo costs more to feed my family nowadays, so really a holiday is a luxury NOT a need.
You truly cannot get bitter over how other people live their lives.

Are your friends maxed up with debt/credit cards do you know? That may be how they finance their lifestyles.

No not just you. 1 week holiday last year, no holiday at all this year and if it makes you feel better we have 13 weeks of summer holiday to get through. And I have my own business that's doing quite well.

If you still feel bitter wait till July and August wjen they start posting about how crap their foreign holidays were and AIBU to wish I'd stayed at home.

I'd probably be bitter as well if I compared myself to wealthy people all the time. So I don't do it. The last 10 years I've met plenty that go on fancy holidays and spend money like water. A lot of them, I've found out since, paid for it on credit and are now up to their ears in debt and worry. I prefer to live within my means, keep my pleasures small and sleep well at night.

FWIW. I've been genuinely hard up in the past and, trust me, it's a lot worse than not going on a foreign holiday or having a new car to play with. When you have to choose between turning on the heating or buying some food, that's when it gets really miserable. Envy is a destructive emotion. Count your blessings.

Thanks all. I am grateful for what I have and I do loose sight of that at times I know. Need to get in to my head glass half full, glass half full!!!!!
