I have paperless billing so dont save any of mine! I used to check them and then save about 6 months worth

I keep for a year or so initially, then when I am looking at chucking them out I check if they have any big purchases on first - Eg for a camera/laptop etc. I used mine as proof of purchase before now eg to return a faulty item or for insurance claim. So I chuck ones that only have umpteen £30 shops at Asda Waitrose on them.

If you've moved address at all I'd save one from each address. I used to save 3 years worth but when I had a previous job in a bank they wanted ten years of proof of address and I had to fork out three quid to my bank for each past statement. Not saying you want to work in a bank but you never know when it could be handy to show proof of living at a certain address.
