I should be avoided at all costs if you are trying to sell your house.

We are buying a house and where due to move within the next 2 weeks, but the man that owns it has just died - anyone any idea of how long it takes ?

When we bought the house we are in now, the man died just before we moved in too, but I can't remember as wasn't in a rush. Do you think I'm cursed

To get a Grant of Probate doesn't take too long providing there are no complications in his Estate. It's simply a matter of the Executors getting an Affidavit done at a local solicitors and then sendig it to the Probate Registry - depending on their speed it ususally takes no more than a couple of weeks to get a Grant of Proabte. Once this has come through the Executors are legally able to sell the house. Hope this helps!

We had this problem buying our house. The 2 daughters had put it on the market after their mum went into a home. Problem was, they didn't have power of attorney. It took absolutely ages.

Providing he left a will, you can sort it out within a week. your Solicitor will have to hound his though.
