Just lookng for inspiration, my partner and I are on income support, so money is tight, with our first child due mid january, we are having xmas at home, just the 2 of us and our springer spaniel.

I don't want to travel to family in case something happens and I need to go to hospital.

How can we enjoy it with our limited funds?

Thanks Girls

aw, the thought of you waiting for your first baby is lovely!

I guess you wont need too much food if its just two of you

Go for lovely walks, see the lights in the town centre, drink hot chocolate, watch all the lovely Xmas films

have a lovely time and all the best with your new baby

Get some nice sparkly decorations/lights
Record all the Xmas TV and films you like the look of (and you can watch them in the New Year when there's nothing else on!)
Make some Christmassy things to eat (iced biscuits, mincepies, truffles)

Don't feel you HAVE to do anything. You don't HAVE to have turkey just because it is Christmas. Spag Bol is fine if that is your favouritebut you could probably spoil yourselves with a special something, a pudding or a nice bottle of wine. A lovely relaxing walk if the weather is nice or snuggling up with the TV or a film if not.

It may not be your cup of tea but church is free and there is bound to be carols to get you in the festive mood and a good old sing song is always fun. Also there are always people there at christmas who don't go the rest of the time so you can sneak in with no pressure.

I would say if you have each other and bump too you don't need much else to have a lovely Christmas day.

Why do you think you need to spend a lot? That is not what Christmas is about.

fannybaws · 23/11/2011 21:59

If you like music/singing midnight mass or choral church service of some sort.

friends of mine are going to their local curry house for lunch on Christmas day! you dont have to spend a lot of money at Christmas. You have the best presents already - eachother and a new addition on the way. Just enjoy some lovely time together and relax! Next Christmas may be a whole different ballgame! Or you could use the time to decorate/make things for your new arrival. Good luck!
