Is it worth taking my shrug back to M&S?

Don't know if this should be here or in Products.

I have a black shrug, one of £10 basic ones, bought it at the tail end of September/early October, haven't worn it that much (maybe 6 or 8 times) but I noticed tonight whilst ironing it that about 1cm of the seam has come away where one of the arms joins the body of the item. I have always washed it at wool wash as they recommend.

Do you think they would entertain me for a refund/exchange, I have no receipt? Or have I had my £10 worth?

give it a go! they can only say no

Get some black yarn and a needle. I personally wouldn't for a £10 'fashion' item. Sorry.

Christ - I can't agree with anyone tonight - too much steak pie preparation must have taken it out of me!

Gomez, do you think £10 is a lot for this sort of thing? Genuinely interested.

I'd repair it myself.

gomez · 30/12/2005 23:26

Sorry MrsSpoon but I don't. £10 is not in the general scheme of things a huge amount of money and I would personally be more that happy to get 3/4 months wear from a fairly delicate item that cost a tenner.

I'll get the Wundaweb out then, just wondered what the general consensus was. M&S aren't what they used to be.

Not sure you have got a general consensus to be fair - I might be talking from a hole in my bottom!

MrsSpoon · 30/12/2005 23:30

That's what I mean Gomez, it's not a delicate item (or IMO it shouldn't be), it's t-shirt type material and I thought it would last (at least a year). I totally agree with you that it is not worth £10 for 6-8 wears and IMO the break in the seam looks like a manufacturing fault and I am that it has taken this long to show itself as if it had happened on the first wash I would have taken it back right away.

Arrrgh Gomez!!! Sorry!!! I have just re-read your posts, this time carefully as they seemed to be contradicting each other and realised that I had misread your first post, thought you said that you wouldn't pay £10 for a fashion item. I thought blimey, thought I was tight! Sorry, see what you mean now .
