Understanding Jobseekers allowance

Just hoping somebody can answer what might be a stupid question: we're sitting down this evening to chat through what happens next about a impending redundancy.

If you are a married couple and one partner claims Jobseekers Allowance, he/she gets the single person rate on Contribution based...what about income based? Is the couples rate for couples where both are claiming, or if the person claiming is part of a couple? (I guess the answer is the former!)

If somebody knows, could you confirm? Cheers :)

Couples rate is if both partners are claiming, so both actively looking for work.

if one partner works the other person can only claim contribution based JSA for 6 months (not means tested) Still sigh on to claim Ni credits for pension etc.
If you are both out of work and have no other income you gon on to income based JSA after the 6 months
