I have $30 USD, and want to change them into sterling. Where should I go?

My DH got given this as a tip, and it's been sitting around for ages. I want to take it somewhere but not sure where would give the best rate.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated. I'm thinking of just taking it to the post office.

post office is your best bet as banks will charge commission. Or alternatively take it to your own bank and say its leftover from hols and you bought it there, then they won't charge you. (if you can brazen it out!)

do you know anyone who is going to USA soon (except me!) maybe they will be happy to swap for £.

smackapacca · 30/10/2011 20:35

Stupidly I only know people who have come BACK from the US Confused. Why didn't I think of this 2 months ago???

I think that PO would charge commission too? I know they wouldn't to change it back if I had the receipt, but obviously I don't in this instance.

oh just realised I'm mid name change! D'oh.

TBH, you are only goin to be looking at a couple of pence difference between rates for $30, I'd just take it wherever is most convenient for you! Not sure about post office, but most banks don't charge commission as such, but you don't get as good an exchange rate as you do when purchasing currency.

Thanks - I took it to the post office, and got £16.76 which promptly got converted into diesel :)
