Moondog please tell me the offal and pulses was a joke!

merrySOAPBOXingday · 28/12/2005 16:20

You can make your own yoghurt too from milk in a thermos flask, all you need is some live yoghurt as a starter IIRC.

I'll have a google and see what I can find

moondog · 28/12/2005 16:20

lol
Sort of....

I am big into pulses though.

FairyTaleinNewYork · 28/12/2005 16:20

It's good stuff.

Dh goes back to Turkey each time with about 12 lbs in his case.

FairyTaleinNewYork · 28/12/2005 16:24

moondog · 28/12/2005 16:25

merrySOAPBOXingday · 28/12/2005 16:26

Here is a recipe Yoghurt recipe

As you get milk with your tokens you may as well make your own

Some recipes suggest putting in a tablespoon or two of powdered milk just to beef up the flavour!

FairyTaleinNewYork · 28/12/2005 16:54

pizza dough is in the machine being made. will let you know how these turn out tonight.

Just read the yoghurt recipe - interested in trying this as ds only has goats milk, so it's hard to get nice yoghurts for him.

Has anyone tried this? How long does it keep for?

merrySOAPBOXingday · 28/12/2005 17:39

Laura - if you try it, it might be worth adding a bit of powdered nanny milk to it!

I think it keeps the same length of time as normal yoghurt - 3-5 days???

FairyTaleinNewYork · 28/12/2005 22:12

pizza was scrummy (total cost for the pizza, about 60p i think) which we had with pototo wedges. i have just got the raisen bread out of the machine, and had a sneaky warm slice, its lovely.

milk is being delivered in the morning.

not too keen on fish, but want to attempt a fish pie at some point. atm, am just getting back into the swing of cooking properly.

Good for you...

I do a lot of proper cooking to save money now as well, and life is actually so much easier with a menu plan.. I don't wait till 6 oclock to see what falls out of the freezer for tea.. its now all planned days in advance [smug]

I must admit now that I seem to cook the same things and the things that daughter once liked.. she's now gone off them [sigh]...
but onwards and upwards.. I will be looking here for some inspiration...

What have you got planned for tea tomorrow then... anything nice...

moondog · 28/12/2005 23:24

Misdee, how about adding an egg based meal once a week-sort of tortilla type thing filled with whatever you have handy-mushrooms,bacon,peppers,onions, potatoes, spinach.

If anything,it is even more delicious cold.

seb1 · 09/01/2006 16:13

How is the tighter budgeting going misdee?

misdee · 09/01/2006 16:16

i havent been food shopping since! only got milk as i needed it. (milk delivery is a pain in the a*se, they may get it right this week), but am off to lidl's this week.

seb1 · 09/01/2006 16:24

We get our milk from local newsagents 76p for 2litres £1.11 at asda, it quickly mounts up if you are buying a lot, also agree lidl's nappies are ok

misdee · 09/01/2006 16:42

normanally a clothie, but dd3 needs nappy changing after every single trickle atm.

seb1 · 09/01/2006 16:45

lidls nappies have an indicator on the front showing when they have been piddled in

mumatuks · 09/01/2006 16:48

I like the lidl nappies Seb1 I think they are excellent.. wish I'd found them before..£5.50 beats paying £8.00!!

misdee · 09/01/2006 16:51

is that 5.50 for the huuuuuge packs then?
