aaarrgghh

Dp's just written off my car (plus 2 others). It's down to me to claim from my insurance. I'm sat here filling in the form and I've just realised that I didn't notify my insurers that I got 3 points on my licence over a year ago .

I'm at the point in the form where I have to say if I've had any points/convictions etc within the past 5 years.

What do I do?

Will this invalidate my insurance?

There's no way I could get away with not telling them is there?

S**t!

I've just told my insurers that we didn't want to claim through them as I didn't want to lose my no claims and that dp would claim third party through his insurers and we'd forget about claiming for my car.

They told me that we couldn't claim through his insurers as he is a named driver on my policy all 3rd party claims would have to go through them.

His insurer's are still closed for Christmas, not open until tomorrow, so I was wondering if anyone was around here that could let me know if this sounds correct.

Thanks

that does sound correct. they have lots of rules like this to prevent people from claiming twice.

Do you think that if my policy was declared invalid then we could go through dp's?

If your policy is declared void, then you will have to claim through your dh's policy for the Third Parties losses but not your own. This assumes that he's declared his points to his own insurers. You and he will also have to declare for the forseeable future that you have had a policy declared void.

Thanks Galaxy - that's good news as his insurance should be fine. I'm beyond caring about getting compensated for my car.

Your insurance will most likely be invalid, and you may find it difficult to find cover with any other insurance as they don,t take kindly to being lied to.
