Getting verrrrry nervous about my Mortgage Application!

Okay?.. Panicking again??

Haven?t heard anything from Halifax about my mortgage for ages, so checked the progress of my application online. It said everything was completed except the Arrangement Fee (obviously) and the Valuation (wrrrrrong?. Was done 6wks ago).

It says that they have received: a signed declaration, all the verifications they need and they got my income confirmation last Tuesday.

I phoned them to find out what was going on and I spoke to 11?yes ELEVEN separate people and got cut-off TWICE before getting any answers. And the answers were:

  1. You have an existing mortgage with Halifax/Bank of Scotland, but our system can?t find it so that?s been delaying it.

Eh?? I?ve had my existing mortgage for nearly 5 years and they gave me my outstanding balance 4 wks ago over the phone.

  1. Its due back from the Under Writers with the Yes/No decision tomorrow morning and we?ll phone you at work.

I?m now very nervous. What?s the likelihood of a NO? And if it is a NO what will I do?????
HELP!

Relax!!

We moved house in september and our new mortgage is with the halifax and apparantly they are notorious for being crap! We had problems with them but it all came good in the end.

no advice, but fingers crossed for you.

Please don't worry. My experience of the Halifax as a mortgage broker is that they're normally OK, but at the moment they're pants. Don't forget that they post's all to pot at the moment as well.

The bottom line is that the Halifax aren't a charity, they wouldn't be doing all this work if they didn't think it was worth it. Provided everything that you put on your application can be proven, and you've not over-estimated or mis-stated anything there shouldn't be a problem.

hth

I would phone them again SA. I hounded our Building Society every single day, and eventually went to collect the offer of mortgage in person. In the end I think they would have given me anything just to get rid of me!

We3kingsofOrinocoare · 20/12/2005 20:36

Sackache, any news?

SackAche · 20/12/2005 21:37

They hadn't phoned by 5pm so I went home.

Chase, chase and chase them. Make yourself known as a big PIA and they'll soon get the message!

SackAche · 20/12/2005 21:51

lol Northerner, I'm good at that! I'm kind of scared though... so I'm putting it off.

I'm starting to think that if they are going to say NO (which I can't think why they would) then I'd rather get Christmas over and done with in blissful ignorance. I'm such a blouse.
