apparently we got overpaid 2 years ago and ever since then we have not recieved a penny, now i dont want to seem ungrateful but it has caused me worry and stress and i've just had my 2nd baby they told me on the phone i would recieve more after dd was born but apparently because i still owe them money i get nothing still , i couldnt get through on the phone and had to go into the tax office in town now the lady says i will have to go in with my paperwork and she will write to them while im there to ask them to review my situation. has anyone else done this and how can i get them to wipe the slate clean so to speak. every letter we get tells me we owe them different ammounts last time i rang and spoke to soemone she told me we owed £400 (from £1600) then when i went in to see someone they told me we still owed £1200 you can imagine how upset i was - will this nightmare ever end

Good point! We worked w/our CAB as well, who were innundated w/complaints regarding tax credits. We received a case number from them, copied them on all letters and contact, etc.

I have lost count on how many problem i have had with TC, the worst one was when they stopped all of my payments for tax year 03/04, i was paying child minder, and every month i was getting more and more in debt because i was recieving nothing from them, (and i was claiming as single parent) So i had enough in October 04 (i was still waiting for my back payments), and i had been into my local IR centre, the problem was not sorted there, so i sent a letter of complaint (recorded delivery) to IR, they replied saying that it was going to take 8 weeks to deal with. 8 weeks came, and still nothing, so i emailed the Adjudicators explaining to them of my problems and it took them 2 weeks to sort the mess out and get the payments sorted out and payed into my account!
Then to top it of, the other day i recieved a letter from IR stating that i owe them 4850 quid. I was gob smacked, Phoned them straight away, spoke to one person (who told me i had to pay it back) i went mental, telling him how they have made more problems than he could imagine, and guess what he did.... HUNG UP!!!.
I phoned back straight away, spoke to someone else and explained the situation to her, she had a look at my file, and told me that i should not owe anything b/c they did receive my declaration. So she cleared my debt, and said that my payments will be backdated for 6 weeks (they stopped my payment 6 weeks ago AGAIN).

Sorry about the essay, but needed to have a good moan (hope it has some helpful information!)

GOOD LUCK getting it sorted!

After spending 2 hours in the inland revenue office on friday i have recieved a letter today saying that they have decided that on the basis of the information they hold about us they cannot agree to reduce the ammount they are collecting from us which is currently £88 per month i am going back to the inland revenue office today to show them all of our p60's and p45's since 2003 and hopefully get something done about it otherwise i will have to find out where the nearest CAB is and go there with all my paperwork but this requires me having to find a babysitter for the day so i want to try and sort it out myself im soooo

Don't worry about a babysitter for CAB. They are used to people going in with children and often have toys to keep them amused.
