Anyone with a first direct internet account (or who knows about free overdraft)

I have a sole account with FD comes with a free overdraft facility

We have a joint account which is slightly overdrawn (comes with a free overdraft facility too)

Can I put money that I don't have in my sole account .. eg the balance of my free overdraft into our joint account to put it in the black without incurring charges?

I'm with FD. I don't see why you can't do it. If you were to write a cheque to anyone else they'd honour it up to your overdraft limit.

and these free overdrafts .. are they 'really free'?

its not just no fee, its no interest charged isn't it?

There's no charge for the overdraft, but I think you do pay interest on a debit balance.
