Specific Jewellery insurance?

has anyone any experience of specific jewellery policies please? At the moment we have my engagement ring listed as a specific item on our home contents policy as it is above the insurers general limit. In the last year I have added a couple of other bits of jewellery as specific items as i inherited them. However these warranted an additional premium and as I am approaching renewal I wondered about insuring my ring and these items separately through a specialised insurer in case it's better value/cover. I do wear the items (diamond ear studs and a solitaire necklace) quite a bit so don't want to be required to keep them locked in a safe box etc.

If anyone has any experience I would be grateful to hear - thanks.

I have looked into this and have found over the last few years that even with quite considerable sums of jewellery (I have been very lucky on several fronts) it is still cheaper to combine with household insurance though you need to be careful about which household insurance you use.

Everything valuable of mine is listed on our contents insurance. It didn't involve an increased premium though.

All mine is done through my home insurance too. I found it the cheapest way.

Thanks for your replies - I will be getting a quote from our contents insurers as well who offer good cover but it's always nice to know you are getting best value!
