So, I'm thinking of applying for a TA post which is advertised as 25 hours per week, 15,444 per annum pro rata.
What would I take home per month?
Thank you!

TA posts are awkward as they can be worked out on a 32.5 hpw or 35 or 37. And on a 39 week contract or 44.6 or 52.

Is there any more details?

It is easier to apply payroll maths in fractions. I.e. If the full time working week is 37.5 hours that is 5/5ths so the whole salary. Or a working day of 7.5 hours per day per week. Therefore 25 hours is 3.333333 working days or 3/5ths of a working week. Does that help?

Assuming the full working week was 35 hours:

You would get (before tax) 25/35ths of £15,444, ie £11,031, or £919 per month. This would then be taxed and assuming you have a normal tax code, you would get around £820 per month in your pocket.

But as Harriet says, it very much depends on what they consider a full working week to be.

Strumpypumpy · 21/06/2011 12:43

This is how it would equate over 52 weeks of the year.
(15444/52)/5=£59.40 per day.
59.4 x 3 working days = 178.2
178.2 x 52 = 9266.4 annual salary
9266.4/12 = 772.2 per month.

But I suspect you won't be working school hols. So I would need to know how many weeks the annual contract is for and if the 15444 figure is pro rata those weeks too or worked over the year.
