Can anyone offer me any advice ??

For a while my husband was self-employed, he was very good at his job but unfortunately got messed about a bit, not paid on time (if at all sometimes) and we got ourselves into a bit of a pickle. We fell behind with our mortgage only for 2 months but still fell behind.

He has just got himself a new job and is on a great salary, we are getting back on track slowly with everything under control.

We found a house we would like to buy last week, we loved it so much that we put our house on the market on Tuesday and have sold it already, the new house is perfect for us and we desperately want it. We have a appointment about a mortgage on Tuesday but now I am so worried that we are going to be refused due to our past recent history. Does anyone know how the credit scoring system works ? I am going mad with worry that we are going to lose out on this fantastic house.

Any advice ??? thanks

I think you should be ok. I was talking to a mortgage advisor just this morning and she said that even if you have defaulted on payments it doesn't necessarily mean that you wouldn't be offered a mortgage.
Basically they don't base their decision purely on your credit rating. It is down to a lot of factors. Also defaulting on your mortgage doesn't necessarily mean that you will have a bad credit rating if you have kept up with any other credit you have/have had

There are a few other debts too, but we have agreed with companys involved regular payments, so hopefully we will be OK, the thing is that we will be able to pay of all our debts and bits with the money after the sale. I can't believe we sold our house in 1 day to the first viewer, so exciting, will cross my fingers and hope for a good outcome on Tuesday, thanks for replying

You need to add a note as an addendum to your credit file with the companies briefly stating that the circumstances for non payment and that you are now employed and the accounts settled.

companies take note of that.
