Hi. I really hope someone can help me here.

I've been a SAHM for 7 long yrs and have applied for so many jobs without any luck that I've decided that the only thing to do is go back to college to get a vocational qualification and up to date references and work history etc.
DP works full time earns approx £17,000 before tax, we get CTC but not WTC, and CB for 2 DCs who won't need paid chldcare.
The course that I want to do is NVQ2, it's full time and the course fees are £361 but I will need kit that costs £240 and uniform for £60.
Does anyone know if I'm eligible for any help with these costs and if so how do I apply?
I know that these costs are tiny compared to university fees etc. but if I'd applied last year the course would have been free.
I've already got A'Levels so I kno that discounts me from Adult learners grants, if they still exist.
The course starts in September.
Hope that I've included all the relevant information!
Thanks in advance xxx

hi soggy. IMHO you might be better asking CAB or the college student services, as there are all sorts of financial support for students, but it's quite an area of knowledge that the rest of us aren't that privy to. Can you contact either of those?

I got a course grant and concessionary fees from my college when I did an NVQ course. I was a lone parent though so my income was very low (benefits). The college dealt with the course grant so you're best approaching them. I think I remember that to get any conc fees you needed to get some benefits, HB or WTC if working so your DH's income might be considered too high.
