I've never had any debt? I've only lived in this house with dp for 8 months. My ex was done for fraud and am wondering if it's linked to him? I've been divorced almost a year, separated for 5 years.

Am really worried someone's used my name for credit? I rang the agency but their computer was down, said he'd ring on Monday a.m. I'm surprised they'd ring on a bank holiday?

Funny thing is this company is in Essex and I'm northern England.

So my whole weekend is spoilt now worrying Sad

To top it off there was an email from paypal? saying I'd subscribed to skype! It's fake but things like that worry me too. I didn't even know you paid for skype?

Try not to panic. If you're not in debt then the debt investigators have got the wrong person. (Or are they saying they are investigationg someone else's debt?) Be very, very wary because there are all kinds of fraudsters out there trying to scare people in to parting with cash. A popular one is to claim you owe a telephone company money and then demand a credit card payment to clear the bill or they'll cut you off. The E-mal about Skype is fake and many other things are as well. You're right to be suspicious (bank holiday phone-call? computer down?) When they call back, agree to nothing, take careful notes of the conversation, the name of the person you're talking to, a contact phone number & ask for written evidence for any claim they think they have against you. Good luck

you pay for skype credits.

change your passwords on everything, just to be on the safe side.

obviously, don't click on any links in emails, type in the addresses on the address bar.

when you talk to them on monday, tell them that you do not acknowledge any debt and you want them to show you proof. You want an agreement with your signature on it or other proof as you believe you are a victim of fraud.

Thanks for the warning. I'll be extra cautious on Monday if he rings. Everything here is in dp's name so don't see how anyone can stop the phone etc?? Mind you he did ask for my mobile number!! Shock

UPDATE!! He eventually rang me at 7.30 this morning. It's to do with someone looking for exdh. Phew!! He also wanted to know if my name is on ex's mortgage. Luckily it isn't. I do have power of attourney on the house though and with the dcs still being there on weekends wonder if I can stop the house being taken from exdh? Will cross that bridge when I come to it though. Just so relieved someone hasn't stolen my identity Smile
