Tax credits and work

I have two wee boys aged 3years and the other is 7months. My husband works full time, i just went back after my 9months off. But my tax credits have been cut due to the new buget! Non of us get working tax credits. My 3year is in a playgroup which is £26 a week. They have stop paying £17 they were paying. I don't wanna put them into a private nursery as the hours don't suit and costs to much.
So i was gonna give my work up. We have called the centre they said the same. As my husband would get working tax credits and would get the child care cost again. I could even maybe go back to college or something next year! Just looking for a wee bit of advice in how to get there?/ Many thanks

Advice how to get to college?

HoneyBare · 23/04/2011 10:08

To be able to claim help with child care, you both have to be working at least 16 hours.
Unless the one that isn't working, is ill or disabled and claiming a disability benefit,a patient staying in hospital, or in prison.
If you gave up work your DH might be entitled to working tax credit, but you wouldn't get help with child care.

Sorry i thought you wanted advice on what help you would get if you gave up work, and went to college. If you stopped work you wouldn't be entitled to help with childcare from tax credits.
Not sure if you would get help from college for childcare.I think that all depends on income. So would depend on how much your DH earns.By the sounds of it your DH earns too much if he doesn't get any working tax credit.
