Council tax reductions - any experts?

Dh is self employed and his income has plummeted , I am a sahm. As we now get working tax credit a friend said we should apply for a reduction in our council tax. We are with Glasgow city council and are paying £140 a month. As dh is now earning approx. £15,000 this feels like a lot.
The problem is dh will have to provide written details from his accountant (who will charge for this) and proof of balance on every account we have etc.. He is not too keen as he thinks the discount will be paltry and not not worth the bother. I think it is worth pursuing. Any ideas on how to find out the appropriate figures (I know it is a long shot)to convince him. I have wasted this aftrnoon on the phone ds is going square eyed.
I tried citizens advice - they had no idea, I have also tried to get the council to give me a rough idea and did not get any more info than I need to complete the form. Any ideas

Thanks for reading

Hmmmm not completely sure but to give you an idea.

Dp earns £14500 and our council tax is £115 a month and we are not entitled to any money off.

There's some info here

I'm sure I came across a website once where you inputyour financial details and it told you what you'd get. IIRC, it wasn't very much at all and that was for someone with a lower income.

I think your income is too high to qualify for any discount

Do you mean www.entitledto.co.uk Soupy ??

I can't remember, Nutty! I must have found it via Google when I was helping a friend but have no idea what the URL was.

Thanks a lot for your replies-SoupDragon the link looks informative. Tbh I don't understand the term deductions for non-dependants because the amount rises in as the income increases.
I will look more closely at it later- I have looked at that website nutcackle and it is very good. Unfortunately it looks like we might get a discount of £1.02 per week . It looks as if dh was right
