I am returning to work PT after mat leave 2 days per week. This works out as 15 hrs per week in my job- can i still claim tax credit? Something tells me that below 15hpw you cant claim- or have I dreamed it??

I think it has to be 16hpw or more to claim working tax credit but I'm not 100% sure. I know when I was on income support 16 hrs was the minimum you had to work to come off I.S.

It has to be 16pw, could you do a bit of overtime?

You can check this by going to the Turn2Us website and running your details through their 'benefits checker'. Select the 2011/12 option so that you can see the estimates for the new tax year. Do the calculation first time stating 15 hours and then do it again using 16 hours... see if there's a difference.

It has to be 16 hours for WTC and assistance with child care costs, CTC does not have a min number of hours. Changes to 24 hours at some point as laid out in the budget last year.

are you a couple, do they add both your hours together if this is the case?
