And it's about a BT bill that hasn't been paid informing the person they will be setting a debt collection agency onto the case! And they have my fucking address!

Was addressed to the daughter of the people who used to live here. SHe's now in Australia but I am supposed to post everything on to her parents' address but I didn't check and just opened the envelope.

What do I do now?

Just seal it back up with some selotape, write on opened in error and send on.

RenniesFromHeaven · 10/03/2011 19:52

Secretly and very quietly put it in the bin

Next one that comes, mark as addressee gone away and drop back into post (no stamp required)

then... shhhhhhhhhhhh

nailak · 10/03/2011 19:53

phone them up and tell them?

bellavita · 10/03/2011 19:55

Or you could just shred it.

Ormirian · 10/03/2011 19:55

OK. One sneaky answer and one honest one Grin

I am a bit concerned I'll get the heavy mob banging on my door!

I must admit I am getting pissed off with redirecting all her mail. Her parents paid to have their redirected but hers wasn't and I'm getting several a week. Gawd knows why I opened this one Blush So an 'Addressee gone away' might have to be the next step...

I would sellotape it up and return it to the sender.

RenniesFromHeaven · 10/03/2011 20:00

Has she a different surname to them? usually when you set up a redirect they do everyone with the same family name for the same price. might just be the sorting office is having a minor wibble.

We get mail for the daughter of the last person who lived here, they include debt collection notices (I know as we have no forwarding address).

I have phoned the company saying the person no longer lives here, but the post continues.

You will get more, just forward the next one (although you may have already sent on lots you didn't know about)

They can't take anything of yours if they do visit.

Do send a letter to her parents saying you don't want to keep forwarding.

Or you could phone the company and tell them her parents address. Be warned, many of these debt collection agencies use high cost phone numbers, could be cheaper to write

Ormirian · 10/03/2011 20:03

Yes she has a married name.

I think I will sellotape it up and send it back

I had to do this a few weeks back as we got some mail for our ex-nanny and have no way of contacting her. We called the company and told them she'd gone and followed it up by letter and they went away. If you have a forwarding address send it to them. Do not comment at all other than 'she doesn't live here now, her parents live at: etc'

The do go away if you do this. But you have to follow it up in writing.

Ormirian · 10/03/2011 20:11

Thanks.

I bloody wish she's sort out her own forwarding though!
